Why would I need a carrying case, sometimes called a storage case, for my spare tire kit?

The optional carrying case has many advantages, but it may not be necessary for some vehicles.

When a car manufacturer removes a spare tire, they might also modify or repurpose the space that was previously used to store it.

That space could be utilized for extra passenger room, the placement of hybrid batteries and related components, or for more practical cargo capacity.  

Many vehicles still include the original spare tire storage space in their design. If the Modern Spare kit can fit there properly, the product detail page for your car model will indicate this. If so, we recommend selecting the kit option without the case. 

If your car or SUV no longer has traditional space for spare tire storage, a common question arises: where should I store my spare? 

For these vehicles, Modern Spare has designed a padded and reinforced carrying case that conveniently holds the entire spare tire kit without taking up much of your vehicle's trunk or cargo space. While the spare is meant to be stored in the trunk or rear cargo area, our design goal of keeping the spare compact and lightweight ensures that you retain most of your original cargo space. 

When laid flat, the spare keeps a low 6" profile even when stored in the case with the added jack and tools.
