Is the spare tire balanced? Do spare tires need to be balanced?
No, balancing a spare tire is not required as it is for regular tires. Spare tires have a very low rotational mass, so balancing a spare tire like a regular wheel and tire does not provide any advantage.
-
- Due to the low rotational mass of the small, lightweight spare tire, balancing your spare tire is not advantageous. In our testing process, we have confirmed that balancing a spare tire provides no functional benefit, which is why it is rarely done in the tire industry. However, the spare tire and wheel can be balanced just as any regular wheel and tire should you desire to have it done.
