My spare wheel has ten lug holes, and my vehicle has a five-lug bolt pattern. Why? And will this work?

Yes, some of the spare wheels manufactured by Modern Spare will have two distinct five-lug patterns equaling 10 holes total. Your spare will only fit one of these bolt patterns.

Some Modern Spare wheels have ten bolt holes with two distinct lug patterns.

If your spare has ten lug holes, the two 5-lug patterns may look similar. However, they are quite different and the spare will only fit the bolt pattern that is designed for your vehicle model.

Modern Spare makes some wheels with two bolt patterns as a way to help keep manufacturing costs down. This makes the wheels compatible with a variety of vehicle models when other important specifications are the same.

If you change vehicles and keep your Modern Spare, we are happy to help you identify the compatibility of your spare and if it will work on your new vehicle.

If you want to pre-mark the correct bolt pattern for your model and have not yet performed a trial installation, we are happy to help you identify which lug holes are correct. Please contact our helpful support staff.
