For 5th Generation Camaro Models (2010-2015), we have designed the spare tire to be stored in the existing storage "well" under the trunk floor. Read further for details on this and options for 6th Generation models (2016-2024)
The 5th Generation Camaro models have an existing spare tire storage space under the trunk floor. Your Modern Spare can be stored there, and if you order the Complete Kit Without The Carrying Case, (you will not need the carrying case) your kit will include the necessary hardware to secure the spare in place.
Please note- Due to important design features of the Modern Spare wheel for your Camaro, your trunk floor may be slightly raised when the spare is secured in this storage space. Typically, this is less than a half inch and does not affect the available storage in the main trunk area.
For 6th Generation Camaro Models (2016-2024)
General Motors altered the unibody design so that any existing storage under the trunk floor is no longer adequate for a spare tire. In this case, placing the spare in the main trunk area is best and for this, we recommend choosing the complete kit with the carrying case.
Modern Spare has specifically designed our carrying or storage case with this in mind. By keeping our spare tires narrow and compact, you can keep the spare in the main trunk area without sacrificing all of your storage space.
The storage case is made with rugged, reinforced, and padded nylon that keeps the entire kit (jack, tools, wheel, and tire combo) neatly secured while maintaining a short 6 inches high when laid flat.
For 6th Generation Convertible Models-
The trunk space is quite small allowing room for the top to retract into a portion of the trunk area. The spare can still be placed in the trunk and still allow for the roof to be brought down. To allow this, start by putting the convertible top in the down position. Then, detach the divider that hides the retracted roof. You will see there is space remaining under the convertible top where the spare tire kit can be placed without affecting the roof system.
